CPO Program Activities

Background

The Transition of Research Applications to Climate Services (TRACS) was formerly known as the NOAA Climate Transition Program (NCTP). The original NCTP Program was established in 2003 by Dr. Fiona Horsfall of NOAA's National Weather Service Climate Services Division (CSD), and Dr. Harvey Hill of NOAA's Office of Global Programs (OGP) Climate Assessments and Services Division (CASD) (now under the NOAA Climate Program Office (CPO)). At the time they prepared a conceptual paper and a poster for a quick understanding of the program. Dr. Nancy Beller-Simms managed NCTP from 2004-05 funding the first four NCTP grants projects. Mr. Josh Foster became the newly renamed TRACS Program Coordinator in 2005, shepherding the program through the FY2006 and FY2007 annual grants funding cycles. TRACS expects the first transition partnership project to be completed in 2008.
